ABOUT US
RUSSIA: MAKING CONNECTIONS (RMC) was founded by individuals who care deeply about Russia. We have traveled and studied extensively in St. Petersburg and Moscow and we are committed to helping you “making connections” with “real” Russian people and their astounding country.
We meet these goals by introducing you to the arts, culture and history of Russia in collaboration with thoughtful, knowledgeable Russians who comprehend their history and interpret it through the lens of current events.
RMC administrators along with those who will accompany you in your quest for understanding are, with few exceptions, fluent speakers of Russian and English. All are eminently knowledgeable about their subject. Our long-standing collaboration with many of these experts has stood the test of time, ensuring that you will be provided with all the information and support required to fulfill your expectations.
Included among those with whom you will meet is Dr. Aleksei N. Guzanov, Chief Curator of Pavlovsk Palace, who was born in nearby Pushkin and, as a child, played within the confines of the Palace and its park. An author and recognized scholar, he has traveled and lectured throughout the world, eloquently depicting Pavlovsk as a repository for culture and knowledge and artistic delight. Speaking with audiences, he often charmingly characterizes Pavlovsk Palace as “the most beautiful place in the world.”
In Moscow, when you visit Christ the Saviour Cathedral, you will have an opportunity to meet and learn from members of Patriarch Alexei’s personal staff who, better than anyone, can retell the incredible story of this cathedral.
Throughout our programs, at museums, historic sites, gardens, parks and during boat tours, you will constantly be guided by articulate and knowledgeable individuals who care deeply about their subject and who are eager to support your understanding.
